Aberdeen Village

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We are going on 18 months waiting for a refund of the apartment. I don't think we would have committed to the location if the time it takes to get the deposit refunded was explained at the beginning. We were told 3-4 months at the start, then 5-6 months, now no time frame has been provided.

I visited this facility

Aberdeen Village was beautiful, but it was the dollars and cents, having to buy into it, and $15,000 is a lot of money. It was so nice and clean. The man who took us around was just a lot of fun. It had all of the things that I wanted, except that I would have to buy it. The people were nice. They had everything so prepared. They had a train all set up. There were so many nice things there.

Things to ask, independent living

For independent living, ask what the policy and charges are if resident needs nursing care from Aberdeen. Do they take Medicare. What are examples of policies/actions taken by recommendation of resident council? Is main phone line staffed 24 hours? How often does it go unanswered? Why is the cappuccino room coffee machine not accessible to handicapped?

Aberdeen Village was a nice facility. The lady that talked with us was very nice. They had a beautiful dining room and a great coffee bar/breakfast area. The living areas were pretty old and kind of out of style. Otherwise, it was great. The apartments were big and roomy. There's the living room, the kitchen, the dining room, the bedroom, and the washer and dryer for you. They had a very nice common dining room and a swimming pool that you have access to all the time.

Our family had an in person tour with the Aberdeen Village community, and overall we thought they did a very good job on the tour so it was a good experience.

I've had a good experience with the community. I would recommend to others to make sure you understand all the levels of care. Please make sure to ask about how independent living works when the resident needs a nursing/medical procedure for an immediate injury.
