We put a deposit on a room and were told later that they had miscommunication internally and that room wasn't available. I understand they can't deny food, but they also always offer dessert to my diabetic father so he always says yes instead of only giving it to him if he requests it. His floor in his bathroom is always sticky and there are dust devils in his room. I've asked repeatedly about this and I'm always told they will clean it. The reason we gave the overall experience a 4 is mostly due to the food is not always too good. My sister does like some of the staff members quite a bit, she doesn't like to socialize a lot, she likes her privacy. She really complains about the food mostly.

Avamere at South Hill looked like a newer facility. The only thing I didn't like about it was the cost. It was just really expensive. They had super smelling food. It made me hungry walking in. The staff who assisted me with the tour offered a meal, but we didn't eat there. Jackson was super knowledgeable about assisted living, and the ins and outs. I learned a lot from him. He was very friendly. We got along well. He had a lot of knowledge and he could answer any questions about assisted living and what …

My mom is loving it here. This facility is great. Everything has exceeded our expectations. The staff is so friendly and the residents are great. They take very great care of mom here. It's a more down to earth place, which works for her type of living and lifestyle in general. I would absolutely recommend them to family and friends.
