PositiveMy husband is in Aventura at the Bay. They are actually much more experienced in managing what he needs. His room is basically a hospital bed type of setup. He's in a two-bedroom, semi-private. It's an older facility, but they stay on top of things. The food is terrible, which is the main problem. The people are very caring. He gets a lot of people interaction because of physical therapy and occupational therapy and the nursing staff. They check on him constantly, which is good. That's the type of st…

PositiveMy husband is at Aventura at the Bay for skilled nursing. I like the fact that I can call and talk to the staff at any time. One thing I don't like is that there's a smell in his room. There are good activities, but my husband doesn't participate much.

PositiveMy mother has moved into Aventura at the Bay. They have memory care and there's a skilled nursing facility, so they can handle her diabetic needs. Right now, she's in just skilled nursing because they want to assess her before they decide whether or not she's doing OK where she is or if they need to move her to memory care, but they have that unit available if they need to. It's a very nice facility. It's very clean. The staff is very friendly. The biggest drawback for me is the distance fr…

CriticalThis is the place to put people to die. They do not do the bare minimun to help your loved one stay active- they want the all residents either wheel chair bound or bed bound. IF they orders from a DR they will PT but that to /say that they have done all they can and your loved one will not get any further PT. I visited multiple times to find my loved one had not been showered or had their teeth brushed for extended days. You know its bad when the water date on their cup is dated 2 or 3 days ago. We asked them why t…

CriticalWhile the care given my mother while at Bon Secours Maria Manor was good, the care given to her personal items was poor. Be warned, do not take anything for a loved one that you don't want thrown away. They showed wanton disregard for my mother's personal effects. She passed on Christmas Eve and before I could get there to retrieve her one-of-a-kind photos and very personal items, they had been thrown away by the staff. Heartbreaking to lose the last items we had of hers.

CriticalFacility is beautiful, grounds are well manicured but the nursing staff could be a bit more friendly. My first experience with visiting my mother In law was terrible.. I couldn't take her outside, couldn't help feed her, couldn't paint or file her nails, everything question was a hard "no"! Told me to go to administration for protocol!
