My wife was at this facility for about 3 weeks receiving physical and occupational therapy. The therapy was good and effective. The staff at all levels was excellent, even to the point of some staff members providing assistance outside of their prescribed roles. The food was good, well prepared and hot. The facility was good, pretty well maintained, with plenty of lighting in all patient areas. First, let's start with the positives. The nursing staff was excellent; they developed a rapport with my Mom even though they were short-staffed, which was not their fault. Unfortunately, the bad outweighed the good. My 77-year-old mother was transferred to BJC Extended Care, but it’s a BJC facility in name only. Had I known that, I would have had her go elsewhere. Avoid for the health of your loved one. The staff is rude, unprofessional & not attentive to the patients. They are lazy & couldn't bother to give my boyfriend his meds on time. I had to ask for them when I came to visit. Also, they kept telling us they were running out of everything from meds to milk & fresh salad! Insurance pays for this so where is the money going to then? I can't believe BJC is still affiliated with this place.

My mom was at Barnes-Jewish Extended Care. Almost all the staff, except for one person, were wonderful. The care was excellent, and they were very attentive. It was very expensive and was $610 per night, which was unbelievable. Because of COVID, they weren't using the various rooms. There's a special dining room if you wanted to invite other family members over for the evening and they had kind of a group room with a lot of windows and a fireplace and a TV, and my mom wasn't able to do any of that. I’m a patient here now and can’t wait to leave. The majority of the nursing/care staff is rude and defensive and many are incompetent to the point that even with an injury I don’t bother to ask for things like help walking to the bathroom, My meds get delivered haphazardly and occasionally I’ve been handed the wrong dosage. Or I don’t get the right medicine at all. Stay away! Bad news. PS: the food is atrocious. Badly prepared and inbalanced nutritionally. All carbs and limp over cooked vegetables. Yuck! F-

The place was great--many people worked to help me get better. One girl brought me treats to help my appetite and staff was nice and friendly. Had a little trouble and my medicine needed changing and they were quick to get this done.
