Conveniently located in Western Suffolk County on a scenic 13-acre campus, we cater to the diverse needs of individual residents. Our mission among staff is to value the dignity of…

I am/was a resident of this facility

I recently ended a stay of over 2 1/2 years at the Village. This review only covers Independent Living. It is pleasant and quiet, with the population skewered towards women in their 80s and late 70s. The meals were surprisingly good until 6 months ago they changed to an inferior service. To cut costs? Meals are a big part of your life at these places, and it was very disappointing to see it go from very good to average. Not just my opinion, but the opinion of the others I dined with. The downgrade in food cost them…

The Dominicans no longer run the Village

The meals were surprisingly good until they 6 months ago they changed to an inferior service to cut costs You should know that Dominican Village is no longer run by the kindly Dominican nuns. They were known for gentle treatment of residents when their money ran out. They were able to let many of these stay on. Others were …

I toured with Dominican Village and loved everything about it. Religiously affiliated but was not overly oppressive as such. (I went to Catholic school!) Unfortunately, they could not meet my brother's needs at the time, so we were unable to go with this facility. All of the people that I met who conducted the tours were most pleasant, eager to answer questions and gave freely of their time.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Dominican Village is a very nice community. It is expensive, and the rent is going up. My mom is not crazy about the food, so she cooks her own food and that costs some more money. If the food was better, I would recommend it more, but I think it is probably like that in most places. The staff is very nice. She likes that they have religious activities. They also have various parties and things that the family can go to a couple of times a year. They have bingo and barbecue picnics. They have a library, a beauty sa…

I visited this facility

We went to Dominican Village. It's very good, I was very happy with it, and the person who accommodated us was very good. She made us feel comfortable, she knew what she was talking about, and brought us to many parts of the facility. The dining rooms were open, but the residents were not eating at that time. They do a lot of things outside, the grounds are very big, they had a painting class going on while we were there, they did bingo, and they had a library if you wanna go and read some books. There's …

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Aunt lived in both the independent, and assisted living arrangements at Dominican village. Huge staff turnover. Assisted living more like a nursing home. (Smells, and residents calling out for help and waiting to get bathroom help.) Many residents had private care aids to make up for the shortcomings In the care level offered by this facility. Rooms were outdated and in general, the facility did not provide the level of care I expected for an assisted living situation. There were a few care aids that did their j…
