We are very disappointed in the care of the people on staff of the assisted living floor. “Assisted living” isn’t what we experienced. There was an attitude of “I don’t really want to help” that was evident in the responses of the “caregivers.” The workers didn’t seem to want to be there or care for the residents. We ended up leaving as a result of it.

Harmony at Oakbrooke has been a much better fit for [name removed] and for our family in terms of location and convenience. It is only about 25 minutes from me, compared with the minimum 40-minute drive to Waterford, and that makes a big difference when I’m visiting or need to get to her quickly. The location is especially convenient because it is only about five minutes from the hairdresser [name removed] has gone to for 30 years, and one of her favorite restaurants is only about 10 minutes away. CriticalNeeds improvement, but may be getting it
Several snaffus in the beginning. A new Director and a new Nursing manager have arrived and are "cleaning house" to replace the slacker staff. It is clean. Some staff are very friendly. Dining room staff seem like they are just going through the motions. Quality of care needs improvement. Emergency pull cords and on-person emergency buttons have gone unanswered for 30+ minutes. Administrative staff has just tuned over and seem to be actively trying to improve things. Food is reported as good with minimal complaints…

PositiveExperience with Harmony at Oakbrooke
My mom has been at Oakbrooke for almost one year now. In that time I have seen a lot of staff changes, with the most recent being the entire management staff. It doesn't seem to be managed with the same efficiency & communication as I experienced with the previous Executive Director and staff. It doesn't seem that the new Director has as much interaction with her personnel as the previous one. I do feel the facility is still one of the best in the area.

The experience with Harmony has been very positive. The staff is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and attentive. The apartment size was the best of all the sites we visited. The food is good and the structure of the dinner service and the thoughtful table assignment (placing my dad with other military veterans) has been something he has really appreciated.

Very rude and lazy staff. Extremely rude and dishonest manager. Bait and switch rooms left my mom at farthest end of hallway with male residents coming in her room and bathroom numerous times. Had to send pictures repeatedly of dirty bathroom and full laundry baskets numerous weeks. Finally started taking laundry home and doing it myself. Couldn't get her out of that place fast enough.
