PositiveMy Mom has had several short term stays at the highlands and we are very pleased with the care she receives. The rehab personnel are excellent and each time Mom leaves she is a little better than she was before her falls. The aides work very hard and try to take care of all the residents needs. The facility communicates very well with me and the steps that mom is dealing with along the way. Over the past visits it seems like there are a lot of improvements made to the patient care and communication. Every place has…

PositiveMy father has been a patient at the Highlands for short term rehab after his knee replacement. My father has been very pleased with his care and staff were wonderful. The rehab department were exceptional. The discharge planning team kept my mother and I along with my dad informed every step of the way. My father is scheduled for his next replacement and would not go to any other facility but The Highlands

PositiveMy grandmother was admitted to the Highlands for short stay/rehab twice in her life. Both times she has said the staff were very nice and caring. They always checked in on her to see how she was doing and even made her laugh. She has never had any complaints while staying there short term. The food was good and plentiful and the facility is very clean. The staff are always helpful and smiling.

CriticalMy mom was a resident of the Highlands for almost 2 years. There was a member of the family there at least a portion of every single day for the entire time. We missed 1 day because of a snowstorm. I can't tell you how many times she wouldn't have been fed if one of us wasn't there. Worse than that there was never any communication within the staff. Doctors orders were ignored. The aides did the best they could. They are underpaid and overworked. When my mom was in horrible pain towards the end and c…

CriticalThis facility lacks communication between departments as well as communication with the families. My grandmother was transferred here on CMO and we told the transfer person we would like her in hospice as she only had days to live. We did not speak with hospice until she had been there overnight, and when we went to visit that first day she was dressed and placed in a wheelchair! My grandmother passed away after being there for about 36 hours, and it was clear in that time that the Highlands staff believed she was …

CriticalVery disappointed in this facility. My elderly mother received rehab services after a bout with pneumonia. She was discharged after a short period and returned about month later as the pneumonia reoccurred. Communication is horrendous. As family member who do not live in the area, we rely on info from the staff. Although some of the nurses were helpful, the social worker was rarely available. She was consistently negligent in conveying any pertinent information to family members (plans for discharge, medicare, etc.…
