We have been very pleased with Independence Village. I have not seen nor sampled the food but everything else has been a 5! The staff are wonderful. Attentive and caring. The entire environment is very clean, halls are open and accessible. Her apartment is big enough she is not crowded but not overwhelmed either

Staff was attentive, facility was clean, room was nice. However, layout of memory care wing was inconvenient. Residents of south and east wings were separated by a locked courtyard. A staff member was needed each time a resident wanted to ho into the enclosed courtyard. This became an inconvenience. Additionally, my mother was very talkative and there was absolutely nothing one other resident in the south wing with whom she could speak. They all had severe cognitive issues and couldn't communicate. There were 3 wo…

After my dad passed my mom and I looked at many independent living communities, Independence Village far exceeded all the other facilities. Every time we visited there were tons of residents participating in activities, visiting with family or just interacting with other residents. Independence Village in Avon Lake is a warm, welcoming community for residents and their families. My Dad lived in a spacious 2-bedroom apartment there with a great balcony overlooking the courtyard. The gathering spaces are bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed. Dining services and activity options are top notch. My Dad especially enjoyed the regular music performances.
