The staff is great and friendly but there are some inconsistencies with staff coming in every morning (like they're supposed to) to check on her and she has complained about the food but overall she loves being there. Her apartment size is great, she has the 1 bedroom. We were between that and the studio but the studio is very small.

When mom moved in, the apartment was not clean. Caregivers were putting soiled clothes in her closet and not doing laundry. It appeared that they were hiding the soiled clothes. The biggest reason for the rating is that MG told me after 2 weeks that they recommended she move to another facility due to her use of a Pure Wick external catheter at night. We were very transparent about mom's needs. We spoke about the external catheter during the interview and intake process but after she moved in we were told they wo…

In reference to my experience here at Merrill Gardens at Barkley Place, I'm so glad I selected this place to live. The staff is great, they genuinely care about us, and they publish an activity calendar monthly, which they give to each of us, showing by the hour what's available for each of the respondents. We are served two meals a day, and if we want something else to eat instead, or at a different time, they also offer a list of things available to eat on their "everyday menu." The eating area is nice, decent food. It's a mix an assisted and senior living people, more of an atmosphere of like a [name removed] than just a quiet depressing assisted living dining area. He also has an option to eat in a smaller food area close to his room if not wanting to go to tge main area. I've lived at Merrill Gardens for 11 months. Loved it from the first day, although I didn't get to enjoy all the activities for many months due to having a back injury. But the first great thing I found was how friendly and helpful the staff is. This goes for the residents as well. For the past several months since my back has healed, I've been enjoying so many fun things regularly.
