Staff very friendly and professional, food is food. Room size is adequate. Overall cleanliness is above average. Not involved in activities.

They have great activities, the food is good, for the most part the staff is great. It is always clean and they decorate for all occasions. The hardest part for us was going from a caregiver to many, which has been a learning curve. My sister was lucky to have a long term caregiver and they had their little routines. We also had some short term caregivers at the end. We needed 24/7 care and they were absolutely fabulous. So I guess I have a high bar.

My mom loves everything about the place and has only been there a month! I give them all 6's. My mom has been down sizing for about six years this was her fourth move, this is her smallest place a studio apartment. She feels safe and comfortable I think this last move has improved her overall mood. She was living in a one bedroom apartment in Los Alamos and I believe it was getting hard for her to do everyday activities. The staff at Merrill Gardens at Santa Maria was extremely knowledgeable about their place. I didn't see a lot of men there. It's very neat and very clean. I went back for a happy hour just to see if I could observe, and it was about 80% women. There were maybe three or four men out of maybe 30 that were there. The women mostly sat together. One man sat with a table of ladies. The other two sat at the table I was at. One woman sat next to me, and she was not happy there.
