New Hanover House

My brother moved to New Hanover House. So far, they are offering good pay. They're doing good. I have not tasted the food, but I asked my brother and he said, the food was good. As for the value, the price range was in his budget.

Highly recommend

New Hanover House has been a wonderful transition from Independent Living to Assisted Living. The price is the best we have found in Wilmington with no levels of care increases. It is all inclusive with the exception of her prescriptions which they take care of. Doctor visits weekly and we have a great peace of mind knowing she has help available 24/7 if needed.

Mother was a patient in memory care. Rooms are slowly disintegrating, dingy and dirty. Mother urinated on floor, and had cut herself. We reported to staff. It took over 30 minutes to get get a response. We ended up cleaning up ourselves. Went back 4 days later and mom still had same bandage that we put on her on her hand. Floors in the unit were sticky from housekeeping utilizing a dirty mop. You could actually feel your feet sticking on the floor. In speaking with staff on the phone about a medication issue, one o…

Don't go here

My ex-husband stayed here for 3 months...though he was a dementia patient, they accepted him and said he would do well. He loves to walk, and they said that was possibly and issue. Suddenly, out of nowhere, we were told he had to leave immediately because he went near the pond (on their property) and it had an alligator...what in the hell is an alligator doing on their property. We had NO communication from them letting us know of any danger. They didn't care for him, though on several occasions I asked the staff t…

Please do not put your loved one here

I had my mother there, unfortunately I needed to have her somewhere and I should’ve known from the smell of urine from walking in the place. I found her sitting at the Dining room table soaked in urine feces on her clothes no glasses bare feet with food smeared all over the table 2 hours after dinner sitting there alone with the look on her face like what somebody please help me. She is 86 with dementia. I took her that night straight to the [removed] and then home with me. Was told that everyone was sick but nobod…

I toured Hanover House, and I was not very impressed. I felt that it had no homey feeling at all, and I cried when we walked through the memory care unit. There were just lots of people sitting in the hallways doing nothing. It was heartbreaking, and I knew that I did not want my mother there.
