We visited Pee Dee Gardens. It's very outdated. The director was neither friendly nor professional. The tour lasted 20 minutes. She didn't seem interested in the tour. She pretty much told us that the facility was full, so we couldn't see any rooms. We pretty much peeked in a couple of rooms where the residents were at lunch. We toured Pee Dee Gardens during our search for Assisted Living for our loved ones. Our tour guide showed us around, however they didn't have availability at the time for our loved ones. The tour and the facility were okay.

I was very impressed with Pee Dee Gardens and with Melody, the marketing gal who I spoke with. It's in a nice area, and it's two doors down from an urgent care center. It has a memory wing. It is small, so there were fewer strange faces for the residents to deal with. They have a unique payment structure. It's a flat fee. They don't do it by how many meds you take or how much service. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into Pee Dee Gardens. It was as easy as it could be, because it's a great location. It's not even 20 miles from where Mom's house was, so there's a lot of traffic through there just going to Florence, the town where most of the people shop and the little town she lived in. She has one daughter six minutes away, another daughter about 20 minutes away, and another granddaughter which is three minutes away, so she's surrounded by help as needed. So that's worked well. The community was nice and friendly. They weren't as updated as other communities.

Our Experience Food and Maintenance

They recently had gone through an ownership change. The quality of food has gone down substantially just in the last few months. Their are new staff members and some are not quite as friendly as the previous staff members. My loved one has not had a working light over her kitchen in her apartment after multiple maintenance requests and it has yet to be fixed. The mini refrigerator makes this loud clunky sound throughout the day and night and it has not been fixed and wakes her up in the night.
