My mother-in-law is in the memory care unit, not the regular assisted living community, and our experience with the transition was disappointing. Shortly after moving in, she became disoriented, which wasn't surprising given that she has dementia and was adjusting to a completely new environment. We had expected the staff to allow some time for her to settle in, but instead we were informed the next day that she had already been moved to memory care. At the time my mother moved in I would have ranked them a 5, but now it is a 2. Since the beginning of the year Prema has received very poor scores from the county health department due to multiple violations of food storage and food preparation. The county's required report, although it is mandatory the facility post the reports, they are routinely posted in an area where only employees access. The facility is beautiful and clean. Food is good. The area they could improve on is individual attention. When the residents need assistance to eat, they are not very attentive. If the resident is uncooperative, they want to medicate them.
