PositiveI went to look at the long-term care at Rockingham County Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. It was very, very clean and very welcoming. The person who assisted me was wonderful. I saw the dining area, but I didn't sample any food. It looked very welcoming and very clean, and people were sitting and eating there when we went. It seemed fine. We were told about the activities that they have, and it seems they have a very nice activity schedule, but we didn't see any of that. We saw some people walking, t…

PositiveWe are in the process of applying my ex-husband to Ernest P. Barka Assisted Living Community at Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. It's one of the choices, but most likely it's the one that we would like to go with. It has a Medicaid option, which my ex-husband needs. Also, from that facility, when he is no longer able to be in assisted living, he can move right into their partnering nursing home, which is right there. It was fairly recently renovated, so it was quite modern. The hallway…

CriticalRockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center was not for us. There was a person that accommodated us, and we told them what we were looking for, that we wanted to be away from the nursing portion because we were not ready for nursing and that we were going to have a standard room or assisted living. We are both semi-disabled, but I still drive and so on. Once we saw what they were offering, we just didn't pay attention because we wanted an apartment. We're not interested in it at all. The staff was…

CriticalI've been to Rockingham County Nursing Home. I was looking to place my dad there. The facility could use some updates, but they're doing that pretty steadily. The staff was good with their residents from what I was able to observe. Their independent living quarters were small, but the private ones were OK. They didn't have enough private rooms though. They were all very helpful, kind, and really nice.

PositiveWe went to Ernest P. Barka Assisted Living Facility and they do such a great job. They have fabulous reputation in the area. The food was great for the size of the organization. It's got to be 200 or more residents. It's extraordinary what a great job they do considering it's a county-owned facility. I visited them several times and they've improved. This was the location that we found for my mother a few years ago. They have three levels of rooms: private, semi-private, and suites. We were look…

PositiveMy mom just moves in Ernest P. Barka Assisted Living Facility. It is super clean and not overly large. Also, it is part of a nursing home complex, and my mom is hospice eligible so at this point, if she needs to have more specialized nursing care, her address won't change. She can just seamlessly move into the nursing area and then come back to her assisted living apartment as she is able. I like that we don't have to transfer her. The rooms are very attractive, very updated, pleasant, bright with lots of…
