Sage Oak Expereience

My husband was only there six weeks. Those six weeks were great. The food was awesome and he enjoyed it. As a spouse, I was invited to eat with him often. The care was great. The residents were encouraged to stay in the living room instead of their room. If there was something special they would like from the grocery store they would buy it. They provided Dr. Pepper for my husband.

Best we have in the area, but has some growing pains

My greatest complaint is the lack of staff, particularly the RN. They are overextended and at times can not meet the needs of the residents. There are loose terms for the different levels of care. I have hired out someone to come bathe, brush her teeth, and wash/fix her hair on a weekly basis. My mother needs Memory Care and there are limited facilities in the area. I would recommend this facility to others.

Very impressive facility. It's smaller and basically owned by an individual rather than a large corporation. Staffing levels were very good and residents lived in 5 grouped houses (3 regular and 2 memory care) with each house holding 10-15 residents. The staff is very professional and even has a dedicated chef in each house that will prepare meals to residents liking in home kitchen environment. God is GREAT for leading us to this facility

Just wish I had moved him sooner. We really like the hominess. I felt like I was a part of the family. I was always welcome to dine with him. His last meal was Thanksgiving and I fed him and I also had a plate. He enjoyed their food. They quickly learned his likes and dislikes. They do need better recliners for the ones they keep in the great room to watch. We thought we liked another care facility but when we saw SO, we knew we wanted [name removed] here.

At Sage Oak Assisted Living and Memory Care of Lake Charles, the cleanliness and the amenities that they had to offer were really nice. Since they are newly built or whatever, there wasn't any staff, except for the director who gave us the tour of the facilities. But as far as the caretakers, I didn't see much activity going on with that part. They didn't open that up to let us meet with any of the caregivers there, so I was not enthused with that part. I toured Sage Oak Assisted Living and Memory Care of Lake Charles. We did look at the memory care, it's good, and it's like a group home. The rooms are very, very small like I probably would have to borrow a twin bed. The only complaint I had was the room size. There was no place for privacy, if your family wants to come to visit, the open areas are completely open. She wouldn't have room to accommodate chairs for visitors and things like that.
