We toured Sunny View. They have some two-bedroom places that are not connected directly to the main building. The person we talked to thought it would be better not to put us in one of those because my wife and I are using walkers. When we go somewhere that requires a long distance, we have a transport wheelchair, and a wheelchair up and down some of the slopes wouldn't be a good idea. So, she suggested a very large one-bedroom, which could be used for the king bed and a desk. The problem was that their halls …

Sunny View was a nice place and a nice setting. It's not a high-rise structure. They had nice outside courtyards. They had courts for playing games like bocce ball. It's a continuing care place, and the buy-in cost is more reasonable than the other place. The apartments were nice and reasonably sized. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I liked Sunny View Retirement Community. It has been there since 1964. It has a vibrant culture, it looked nice, and had a homey feel to it. They have an active building program, so they always seem to be adding and improving their facilities. I also liked that it's a nonprofit and that it offers a continuum of care. I love Sunny View. The people are amazingly kind and helpful. I've been so surprised at how wonderful the people have been, which you don't always find in retirement communities. Everything is included, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They give you two entrees on the menu and choices for dessert, soup, and salad. The food is good. We placed my father-in-law at Sunny View and he's happy there. It seemed really good, we didn't smell any urine, and it seemed very clean. The residents are very nice to each other, and the employees are very nice to the residents. The food is good. It's not spectacular, but they present it very nicely.
