CriticalSarah Community is not exactly what we expected. Things that were told to us didn't exactly work out the way we were told. For example, we were told that my mother in law would be given options for dinner because of her food allergies, then we were told after she moved in that that would only work if she was in assisted living. Not what we were told, so she doesn't even go to the dining room because all she can ever eat is dessert.

CriticalAvoid this facility. My experience was a nightmare due to systemic dysfunction and a total lack of empathy. After assuring me a long-term care bed was available for my mother, staff gave me less than one business day's notice for discharge on a Friday afternoon. Admissions staff was condescending, gaslit me regarding previous conversations, and hung up when I asked for help. I had to hand-deliver referral paperwork myself because they failed to fax it. PositiveMom moved into The Sarah Community. she's in Veronica House. It's very nice. The room is also very nice and recently remodeled. So far, good. The staff responds properly when my mom has issues there. When she presses the call button, they respond. They have all kinds of activities. They just had a Halloween party, and they had an Octoberfest party. They have a variety of daily activities, including bingo. Mom seems to like the food, and the dining area is clean and well-kept.

CriticalThe rooms are small and not very clean. The food was edible but not very good. The staff was the worst. My mother was insulted and scolded by the staff. Her meds were never given to her on time or when we requested them. When it was time to move out, we were unable to get my mother's meds returned to us. Staff is lazy and uncaring.

PositiveOverall the facility has a very comfortable feeling, clean fresh facility, friendly caring staff. The residents living there also make a difference. They really do care about each other.
