I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother was at the assisted living facility of Thrive at Skidaway in Savannah for 30 days. It's overpriced, and the staff was not as attentive as I would like. The apartments were very nice, though. They're extra roomy. The maintenance was fine, and the food was also good. They were pretty diverse and had plenty of activities. I think they need to improve at engaging the clients to participate in activities. They also need to improve at checking frequently on the clients.

Is this really what I was expecting

Make more than one trip. Take time away from staff and see about getting feedback from residents. Speak your mind when dealing with staff and stand firm when you are right. Staff tends to talk around issues instead of dealing with them. You can't file a complaint without giving your name. That is another way of not having to deal with issues.

The rooms are great, but the food sucks, and all management want is your money. The Wellness Coordinator wants to over-talk you and the President there all she wants is money. Don't move your family members in there the care team sucks.

Thrive on Skidaway is a small and connected community and the residents and the staff have been lovely. The food is also the best we have had at any assisted living center.
