PositiveWe toured Valley View Retirement Community, and it was excellent. It was an upscale facility. We looked at the cottages and it's like a 1-bedroom apartment with a 1-car garage. They looked very nice. When you buy, you are guaranteed a place for assisted living and the nursing home side even though you start in independent living. PositiveI toured Valley View Retirement Community. It is just a great rural setting. It's a nice place. The staff were very knowledgeable and treated me with a lot of respect. I've never used their amenities, but I know they have barber care, nursing care, activities, and exercise rooms. They have pretty much all that stuff.

CriticalWe visited Valley View Retirement Community and the staff member wasn't that friendly. She told us we were only going to be there for three years: one year in assisted living and two years in the nursing home, and that's not a good thing, hearing you're going to die in three years. She showed us one of the rooms, and it was nice. A woman came in with dirty clothes, but I didn't know if she was a patient or not. They have movies, and I think they have bingo, and a snack bar.

PositiveMy mom is doing very well at Valley View. The staff is excellent. Our only complaint would be the food, it's terrible. They do have activities, they're adequate, I've only attended a few of them with my mother and the girl seemed to be doing a good job.
