CriticalFriendly staff. Way over priced
My mother moved in a couple of years ago. The building was new and prices were competitive. The staff have been friendly and helpful. The food and options for activities have been very good. It's a big change and high stress for a parent to move and start over. When Mom moved in, they said average price increases would match inflation at about 3-5%. Varenita is a beautiful place to live. The staff is wonderful very caring and compassionate to our needs. The administration department listens to the residents and makes every effort to keep the property looking beautiful. The food is delicious and residents are provided with delicious choices at every meal. Residents are kept busy socializing and doing many activities. We have wonderful live entertainment. The facility is beautiful and very clean and comfortable. The staff is very good. It takes a little while for the different workers to get to know what each resident needs. My mom has been there for a year and she likes it. The cost is expensive but for now it is worth it as long as she is healthy enough to enjoy the amenities. If she gets to a condition that needs more individual health care and she can't participate in the activities they offer, we will have to move her.

My aunt and uncle like the Varenita of Simi Valley very much. The food is top-notch gourmet. The staff members are very observant and very caring. We have been impressed with their attentiveness to the residents. For instance, my aunt had ordered shrimp served on a bed of fettuccine. She has Parkinson's so she had trouble cutting the shrimp to bite-sized pieces. Someone noticed it and said, 'Would you like some help with that, ma'am?' She said, 'Sure.'
