CriticalMy father was in the memory care unit for over four years. Before the ownership change everything about the place was fine. Once new management came in the staffing levels changed to a level of minimum possible. After my father had falling issues he was put on meds to make him sleep almost constantly. The staff then had him sleep on a community couch in the television room with mats around for his supposed safety. He was checked occasionally by staff. He was not allowed to sleep in his bed in his room as that would…

CriticalMy dad was there for 6 and 1/2 months and I would say care was mediocre at best. Every since Arcadia bought Hickory Point the care had went way down. I was told 1/2 the staff quit because of the change in ownership and they replaced very few. Arcadia bought Hickory Point in [date removed] and if you see any positive reviews I would bet they were prior than [date removed]. When I contacted the Ombudsmen program about an issue they commented that Arcadia was very hard to deal with.

PositiveI went to The Arc at Hickory Point. I didn't think, for the price, that they had everything to offer, like other facilities. I just saw the apartment, and she showed me a few sitting areas, but they didn't have the activities I thought my grandmother would like. You didn't see but one activity room. It was very clean, but you didn't see a big room other than the dining room, which was engaging. They had a studio that was very, very small, and that would not work, but the one-bedroom apartment th…

PositiveI am going to Hickory Point Christian Village. Assisted living is the level of care I'm going into. I like the location. It's in a good part of the Decatur area and it's on a dead-end road, so there won't be people driving through a lot unless they work there or live there. I like that because I use a motorized wheelchair and I'm going to enjoy riding all around those sidewalks. The aesthetics of it were very nice. They're redoing some remodeling right now. It just seemed like a very h…

PositiveWe went to Hickory Point Christian Village. However, they didn't have a room for my mother-in-law when she broke her leg. They showed us around and everything. It was a gorgeous place. It was one of the newest ones, and everybody wanted to go there, but they just didn't have room. When they told us they didn't have a room at the rehab unit, we didn't really push through it. However, now we couldn't use it because they don't accept Medicaid, but that was our No. 1 choice. We liked the l…

PositiveThe staff at Hickory is warm and friendly and make my grandmother feel comfortable and even like she is amongst family when we aren't there. They nurses are very knowledgeable and always have a helping hand ready to assist with her needs. They don't hesitate to answer questions and always seem available. The facility is beautiful and serene. I never feel the surroundings are dirty in fact the seem very clean and even smell fresh. I've never feared leaving my grandmother in there care. The time they s…
