Assisted Living Services Are Not As Promised

My mother began using assisted living services at Benchmark when she was no longer able to independently walk, dress, use the restroom, or transition to/from her wheel chair. She was not in memory care, but needed assistance with these physical tasks and was provided a pendant/button to press anytime she needed help using the restroom or with anything else. It can take a very long time for staff to respond to those calls, and sometimes they do not respond at all. We raised this w/ management numerous times over the…

From start to finish, our tour guide was fabulous, professional, clean, and really had that human touch. Can't get much better.

I visited this facility

I visited the assisted living facility of Benchmark at Newtown. The people who showed me around were very nice and treated me with respect. The rooms were small, but the place looked very clean. One thing I liked about it was that they had a lot of courtyards where you could go outside. The dining area was very nice. Everybody goes to the same dining room, whether you're downstairs or upstairs.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Too frequently, response times for residents using their pendants to call for assistants (e.g. for help using the bathroom) are very slow - often in the neighborhood of 30 min. which is unacceptable, particularly as these pendants are used for emergency calls. On more than one occassion, my parent was left waiting well over half an hour.

My folks have been there for a few months and all they talk about is Church Hill Village. From the delicious meals, the extraordinary care they receive, the entertainment and activities, they always sound so busy when I call. I can't tell you how happy and relieved I am knowing my parents are being cared for at that level. Location is great.

We love the facility location. Staff generally has constructive attitudes. They need to reduce the turnover. The staff is not always aware/informed of my mom's special needs.
