PositiveMom was very happy.
Brookdale in Monrovia was wonderful! My mother enjoyed her stay (she was there for a couple months to recuperate after a bad fall). She really raved about the food and the staff, and enjoyed chatting with the other residents. She also really liked the outdoor area.

Let me start by telling our previous experience with Brookdale. My wife's parents were at Brookdale about 9 years until [time frame removed]. They complained about the food, the staff not being paid enough, short staffed. ( they tend to complain a bit ). Also they only have one elevator and it broke several times during their stay. Fast forward to 2025, when we toured the facility we noticed they had stepped up their game quite a bit. At the time we didn't have a lot of choices to relocate my Mom, because there wer…

PositiveOur families experience with Brookdale Monrovia
My mother doesn't participate in anything so I can't rate the activities. What we like the most about Brookdale Monrovia would be probably the friendliness and the nursing staff's willingness to accommodate my mother's sometimes unique needs. Also it's location is very convenient. Close to several medical facilities and a pharmacy. every time I'm visiting, usually twice a week, all of the residents are cheerful and friendly. This is not always the case in assisted living facilities

For us the fact that Brookdale was so close was a major factor. We only really considered two places that were in walking distance of our house; and Brookdale Monrovia was the nicer of the two.
