Misleading Marketing

If you are relatively healthy and expect to live at least another 5 years, stay away from ACTS communities. Beware of superficial appearances and do not trust anything you're told that isn't in writing. Take note that your contract is full of loop holes that ACTS can use to change things regardless of residents' recommendations. ACTS wastes money on window dressing and unneeded group activities, when the infrastructure is deteriorating, individual medical services are being curtailed or eliminated, and residents in…

I visited this facility

We went to Fairhaven. We really loved it, but it was $8,000 a month plus other expenses. It's lovely. It offers everything. We really wanted to be in that area because our grandchildren and our son lives in Eldersburg. Our daughter has a place in Ocean Pines, too, so we're trying to get to where it would be good for everybody. Fairhaven was topnotch. It was immaculate. The food was very good, too. The dining rooms were beautiful. They offered a lot of activities and stuff like that. They had a golfing ran…

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have a friend who lives at Fairhaven. I like the friendliness of the people I've met, and I like that you can have a meal any time, day or night, without waiting in line for the dining hall. The two-bedroom apartment is a little cramped. I would need to buy new furniture if I were to move there because most of my furniture would not fit. However, I like the variety of activities. I like the fact that even though it's Lutheran-based, they celebrate other holidays, and it doesn't feel like it's …

I visited this facility

I had an in-person tour of Fairhaven. Overall, the experience was great. The staff was great. The living quarters were freshly remodeled, so they were all in good shape. I predominantly looked at one-bedroom apartments, and they were a good size. The cleanliness and upkeep were very good. Everything was centrally located as far as community rooms, multi-use rooms, and dining. The apartments had a good layout. You walk into the living room, with a kitchen just off to the side. They were still working on some areas d…

I visited this facility

Fairhaven was awesome. It was top-of-the-line. Everything about it was incredible. They had everything. For the activities, you name it, they had it. It seemed like they had all kinds of social activities, plus independent ones. They had the usual library and the woodshop, too. The staff was really good. We looked at a two-bedroom cottage that had all new furnishings and lots of space. It's very clean and neat with a nice view. There was a nice deck and the possibility of outside gardens. They had community ga…

Deterioration Since ACTS Takeover

Fairhaven has always had its issues, but since ACTS has taken over, thing have gotten worse. They have curtailed or eliminated paid services like medical transportation that some residents have relied on for over 10 years. They are investing $[removed] in superficial renovations to attract prospects, but the underlying infrastructure is falling apart. Also, Assisted Living rooms are very small and dreary, and no one wants to move there even if the they need more care. Instead, they would prefer to move out if the…
