PositiveSmooth transition.
Anytime there is an issue they always call me so that I can work it out and fix the problem. My Dad receives 24hr nursing care in the Enriched Housing Unit (EHU), even life-checks overnights. All medication is monitored and administered according to prescribers orders, meals are plentiful, and lots of activities throughout the day every day. Enrichment programs are every month and there is a primary doctor that visits. The resident population is small enough to not feel overwhelmed, but plenty of people for social …

Staff in the EHU is exceptionally caring and seems to always have time to speak with me about my loved one. I have only eaten the food a few times and it was what I would expect in a school cafeteria. It could also be that I am not used to the dietary restrictions others may have in the EHU. Also for the value for cost, while Glen Arden is a value now, our family is concerned about future affordability.

The staff is friendly and responsive especially in the EHU area. The nursing home has its challenges but they all do. In both the nursing home (dad) and EHU (mom) they provide excellent care and lots of activities.

Moving is considered a major stressor for any of us; however, for those in cognitive decline, the process is scarier and more confusing. After jumping through all sorts of hoops to get financial, medical evaluation, and other admissions requirements met, the unit that my mother and I were shown on multiple occasions and implied was available through this whole procedure was suddenly made not available to her at the last minute.
