I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

While the frontline caregivers at Glen Carr House (Oxford Senior Living) try to do their best under difficult circumstances, our family experienced significant and documented systemic issues during my father’s 17-week residency at this memory care community. Key areas of concern families should be aware of: Care Plan & Staffing Issues: Severe understaffing directly impacted day-to-day care. Night-shift staffing was particularly concerning, often leaving only one caregiver assigned to a house (with another singl…

They obviously need more help…

Friendly staff, but understaffed. Immediate smell upon entering,, residents toilet often plugged up, dirty laundry mounded high, general house keeping and light maintenance not done. Issues with the office staff and nursing. Was so happy to get our mom out of there and in to a different facility. Tread carefully, ask questions & get everything in writing before signing your loved one to their care. On a different note, the recreation/enrichment staff was awesome.

It was heartbreaking when my mother developed dementia. I had to learn a lot about how to care for her. Watching the way the staff at Glen Carr helped Mom was a lesson in itself. They walked with us through this difficult experience to the end. The facility is homey and beautiful. The open layout works well for people who might easily get lost. I would recommend Glen Carr to anyone looking for a safe and caring home for a loved one.

I visited this facility

Glen Carr House Memory Care is set up to be more like family-style. It has just 14 people in each building instead of a bunch of people in there. There are four buildings. They have activities, and each building has different activities. They hold church services. They have barbecues and picnics outside. When it's nice for the holidays, we can go and have the holiday with them out on the patios. There's one staff member for every seven residents. Another thing I liked about it is that if my mom makes frie…

Medication sedation

We pulled mom out of Glen Carr after 6 months because they used Depakote to treat her restlessness and agitation in dementia. We were shocked to see her change from a generally happy (though restless) woman into a fearful, sedated shell of what she was when admitted 6 months before. Reading "Depakote and Treatment of Agitation in Alzheimer's" by Esther Heerema, MSW, updated January 29, 2020, I learned many facts consistent with our experience. According to multiple research studies, Depakote was no more effective…
