My father was at Glengariff for a few weeks after a hospital stay. He had a couple of negative interactions with staff when he felt his needs were being ignored. Most of these issues were resolved by the time he came home. But, overall, he did well. He thought the PT was great and even said the food was very good. The lobby and downstairs social areas are nice, but the upstairs (where the patients eat and sleep) feels cramped/tight. My husband is currently at Glengariff Health Care Center in Glen Cove. They are helping with mostly physical therapy and occupational therapy, and they're excellent at it. I would say on a scale of one to 10, his room would be a 5. It's okay, but it could be better. It could be cleaner and nicer. It's not the best. It's old, and it needs updates. They do not have a good staff. Yesterday, they had only one nurse and one CNA, and that is not enough to take care of the 40 people on that floor in th…

Terrible place. Care is terrible, staff is rude, food is awful. Dad was treated horrible. 100 days of rehab. They did nothing for him. Stay away from this place. I had to report this horrible place to the State twice.

I visited this facility

I had the opportunity to visit a friend in the Dementia unit. The work done by the Housekeeper assigned to that unit is incredible. You can feel it from the moment you open the door. I would like to congratulate her publicly. I looked her up. Her name is Betty. Thank you for doing your job like that. You are incredible.

Don't ever leave your loved one in the care of this negligent facility! My mother was a resident until I found her passed out and the staff waiting on a phlebotomist, asked me what I wanted to do! I immediately requested an ambulance, when we arrived at Glen Cove Hospital her glucose was over 800! She returned to the facility upon discharge a week later and the next day, again I returned to find my mother drooling by the nurses station with a glucose over 400!
