CriticalFacility is ok, but not enough nurses for medication or nursing skill. Have low budget nurses to fill in that don't have enough education nor do they get your meds on time. Administration is terrible. No social worker to help guide you. No transportation. Can't get access to a bank to cash your 50 dollar check that you are allowed to have. Not enough staffing for meals to be served and not very friendly. Have applied for another nursing home that hopefully has better staff and activities for residents.

PositiveI like that Hawthorn Glen Nursing Center is close to my house. Everything is communal there. The staff who assisted me was pleasant and attentive. They had a one-bedroom unit with a living area, a bathroom area, and a mini kitchen area. They showed us monthly menus. They had a variety. I think there are things on those items that my mom would be able to choose regularly, so I don't think that's going to be an issue. I was impressed with this place. It wasn't dirty and it didn't smell. It was inv…

PositiveDad was here just over 3 years. Facilities are kept clean. Decor is always nice and smells good. Staff is compassionate and caring. Tons of activities for residents and monthly outings to casinos, eateries and/or stores. Anytime I ever had to call in to have someone help me with Dad, my calls were always answered quickly and help was given right away. Dad was happy as he could be having to be in a nursing home. During his final hospice days, the staff was family as they cried saying good bye to one of their own. Th…

CriticalAbsolutely no assistance on third shift. My mother called me over 8 times due to NO ASSISTANCE to the bathroom and having to lay in her own excrement. She was only short term rehab after surgery. I will never put my loved one in a place like this again!!! No stars!

PositiveThe visit to Hawthorn was very good. The whole facility is very nice, and the inside is very clean with no odors. The outside and the gardens were great. The memory care section, which would be for my dad, seems really good. We were very impressed with the staff and the activity director. Plus, it’s 3 miles from my house. The skilled care section seemed to be a very nice facility and they’re remodelling each room. They do have dog shows there, and had pictures of dog shows, a plus as my mother likes dogs. The aesth…
