Review for Lake Forest Place Independent Living, a CCRC

I would say worth the money, if you take advantage of full range of services. Very responsive staff - nice facility.

Lake Forest Place is a lovely to place to live if you are in the independent section. However, the Balmoral Skilled Nursing Facility is terrible. There is a culture of blame and denial. The staff is poorly trained and there is a high turnover rate. There are some good and kind people who work there, but not many. Do not put your loved one there if they need skilled care. On top of it is is one of the most expensive facilities in the area.

Lake Forest Place is a very snobby choice. Most of the residents say the were members of Exmoor Country Club. Look elsewhere if you’re not a fit. The place is lovely and the staff are friendly. The activities are plenty if you can handle the activities.

I did visit this facility and liked that it was non-profit and had a lovely swimming area. I plan to revisit with my family when I return to the Chicago area.

Lake Forest is great, it's a buy-in, it's expensive, and the people there are mostly local people. The staff took me around, and I've gone to a couple of their functions -- which were wonderful. They have a swimming pool, and many people would come in and speak there. The dining area was newly remodeled, it's very nice, and the food was very good.

Lake Forest is lovely but expensive. The staff is very friendly, and I have friends who lived there and loved it. The rooms were very nice but small. The food was good, and the dining area was very attractive.
