PositiveIn reviewing a medical facility, healthcare provider or any other entity or person providing critical services to a loved one, the bottom line for our family is (1) the quality of the care received, and (2) the effort (both in terms of providing quality care and initiating meaningful communications about the loved one's care and needs) expended on our loved one's behalf. On these most important issues, Life Care Center of Blount County is as good or better than any nursing facility we have engaged with. P…

PositiveMy mom moved to the Life Care Center of Blount County. She has dementia, so she's difficult to deal with, but they're very good with her. She also gets therapy which I appreciate. They lost her denture and jacket. The food was pretty good. The facility is very nice. It looks like a resort. There are lobbies, a library, an ice cream shop, a cafeteria, and a dining room. It's very nicely appointed and decorated in the common areas, and people hang out there. When I'm there I take her to the activi…

CriticalMy mother was at Lifecare 2 times for rehab. The first stay was good until my mother became more mobile. The more mobile she became, the more 'aggravated' JoAnne became with her. Towards the end of her stay, my Mom talked daily about how hateful JoAnne was with her. Fast forward, my mother fell and fractured her hip. When she needed a rehab facility, we took her back to Lifecare in Blount County. Unfortunately JoAnne was her nurse again, and from that point forward we vowed to never come back. It is unfor…

CriticalMy friend was discharged on a Friday at 1pm with no verbal instructions given. The social worker who had coordinated the home care was not available to answer questions. A name and phone number was left with the Director of Nursing and told we had questions. No one ever called. We did not even know what home health was supposed to follow her at home. She is a diabetic and would be starting insulin for the first time. No teaching was done. The social worker had apparently not followed up with the agency nor the pati…

CriticalI should have read the reviews before sending my father here. He would still be alive if I had. He was sent there to receive rehab for cellulitis in his leg. 5 days before he passed away, he was coughing up blood. Not just a small amount of blood, but a lot. We asked the nurse about it, and she said it was from thrush. The next day when we went to visit him, we asked if the bleeding had stopped, and we were told that she did not get in report that he was coughing up blood. That means that she had not laid eyes on h…

PositiveMy mother moved into the Life Care Center of Blount County for rehab and long-term care after. It seemed like a good place, good physical therapy, nice and clean, and nice common areas. The staff seemed attentive and professional. The food is okay, better than others. The dining area is nice, really big and carpeted. The rooms are your basic room, but it's a nice size, big bathroom, has a window, is so comfortable, and has a nice TV. My mom just got a haircut yesterday. They have a lot of nice common areas. Th…
