Maplewood at Danbury

The tour went very well and the Maplewood representative was very informative and helpful. Not only did they explain the features of Maplewood but also about the entire assisted living process and different aspects this type facility can have. Being this was my first assisted living facility tour the added information and guidance was helpful.

While the assisted living floor has many daily activities, the memory care floor is lacking substantially. There's been 3 activity directors in less than 1 yr and residents are basically put in front of the TV most of the day. Very few crafts, outside people coming in for music, activities, pets, events, etc. There seems to be high staff turnover, which I suspect is common. Our family's experience

What we like the most about the community is that they seem to be very invested in the quality of life for the residents. If we have had any concerns they address them fairly quickly.

Finally Feeling at Peace

They were extremely quick with the communication ( also thanks to [name removed] from A Place called Mom ) And now 6 weeks later, are still very good about letting me know what is going on with mom. I visit often and it is good to see that the staff knows who my mom is .. and what she needs .. I feel they take very good care of her and I am so thankful.

They can improve in following the care plan. Room is not always clean and my parents are usually not clean/showered. Their clothing is not changed on a daily basis. One time my mom was wearing the same thing for four day- even to bed. Overall, the facility is clean but housekeeping in the individual rooms that I've seen with my parents is not.
