CriticalWe chose Mill Pond’s memory care unit for our mother, trusting their promise of individualized support as her dementia progressed. Unfortunately, when her needs increased, they admitted they weren’t willing or able to meet them and asked us to move her out. This forced our family to find and fund a new facility, which as you know is an exhausting and costly process. This turmoil for our dear mother could have been avoided with transparency from the start. Their marketing and conversations suggest they can handle ad…

CriticalWe placed our mother in Mill Pond's memory care unit based on the promise of individualized care that would adapt as her dementia progressed. Unfortunately, we have learned the hard way that this is not the reality. Mill Pond is not equipped to provide comprehensive care for residents with advancing dementia—even though their marketing materials and staff conversations strongly suggest otherwise. There was a glaring lack of transparency about their limitations, and as our mother’s needs increased, it became cl…

PositiveOur family had an in person tour and the facility is very nice, but it seemed like when the residents really start to decline they just kind of put them in their own section that reminded us of a nursing home.

PositiveLast year, we were able to visit Mill-Pond in Ankeny. It was a nice facility. We just had certain things that we would have wanted, like we wanted something close to where our doctor was and at a certain price. For activities, they had movies, cards, and games. The problem with this virus going on is that they only had certain people that could go around, and we were not allowed to see a lot of places in the facility. The people who showed us around though were very nice. They toured us around, answered all of our …

PositiveMill-Pond was nice, but Ankeny is not close to our doctors or family. The staff was very nice. We have a friend there, and she loves it. It was very clean. Everybody was helpful. Because of the virus, we couldn't see any of the rooms. The rooms you could see were not taken, but they were vacuumed, clean, and very nice. The dining area was OK. They had to do distancing. There were very few people there because of the virus, so they did a very good job. If people came down to eat, everybody was far away from eac…

PositiveI went to Mill-Pond. I really enjoyed the visit, I thought it was clean, neat, and looked new. The staff was very professional, accommodating, she wanted to know what we needed, and that kind of stuff. We saw the apartments, it was small, and one of them wasn't accommodating for a wheelchair, it was kind of hard to turn into the bedroom. It was very well done, and they were redoing a few of the room, and they were gonna take out the carpeting, and have it all wood floors. They were redoing it nicely.
