Recommend elsewhere if possible

The staff has a lot of turnover and a lot of incompetence. The administration is noncommunicative and secretive. We've caught them in lies. The day before I went to Florida to bring my mother up to assisted living in NY my husband and I signed the paperwork. At that time (and not ever before) they informed us of resident deaths from legionaires disease a few years prior. I discovered they were overcharging my mother for months last fall. The health office is VERY unorganized. The med techs made several mistakes…

I visited this facility

Promenade at University Place was a horrible place. All they asked me was how much money I had and how much money I could spend. I think they had 10 or 12 open beds, and I asked the staff why, and she said, 'Well, we're just new here.' It was a hotel they converted. The rooms were big, but it seemed the care was lacking. There was a woman eating ice cream with a plastic fork and she couldn't get the ice cream, but nobody was helping her. And the residents just looked disheveled. The woman who to…

I visited this facility

Promenade at University Place was very clean. Everything seemed to be in working order. The residents seemed to be very happy. The admissions director was very well acquainted with the residents and all the programs. The rooms were modern, but when my husband and I walked down the parking lot, there was one particular resident who was sitting in the parking lot smoking a cigar. I know the residents can come and go as they want, but it was rather unpleasant walking out to your car with the person smoking a cigar in …

I visited this facility

We toured the Promenade at University Place. It was very well-organized and very clean. The rooms were roomy. The bathrooms were very roomy. The person who helped us, Brittney, was excellent. It seems like there are a lot of activities and a lot of interaction, which is what you want. The place, I thought was up kept very well.

Improvements needed, keep looking if you have private funds

Consider it for Medicaid funded, but if someone has private funds look elsewhere. Food - Just not very good. For example at dinner (evening meal) they serve soup and sandwiches. Activities - No outings with transportation despite saying that on tour. Also their communication, med management and health management is a chaotic mess. Impact examples are: • Not sending records to specialist for appointment resulting in waste of time and money for that visit. • Giving my mother someone else's meds (at least twice)…

Positive experience

They are lovely people, hard working, caring, kind, and understanding. As far as the food goes, all comments seem to circle around how hot or cold it is.
