CriticalMy mother was at St. Cabrini Nursing Home for only three months, and those three months were heartbreaking. She hated being there, and visiting her became torture because I had to see the awful conditions in which she was spending the end of her life. She could no longer walk and depended entirely on the staff. When she needed to use the bathroom, she was often ignored until she went in her clothing. No person—especially someone nearing the end of life—should be stripped of her dignity that way. Shortly before she …

CriticalI have a brother at this facility in NY. No family member lives close by. I am not able to talk to him because someone took the phone out of his room. We just had a death in our family in Florida and no one has been able to get a message to him. I have tried for a couple of hours and as soon as the phone is picked up, it is slammed down before I can say anything. How are we supposed to get emergency messages to him? I spoke to the security person and he connected me to the nurses station in 2 South and it was slamm…

PositiveI have been to Cabrini nursing home many times over the past couple of years to visit someone. This place is by far the best facility that my loved one has been in. (transferred her here from another facility) There are activities going on through out the facility that you can pick and choose to go to. The food is not bad, (remember it is still an institution) the staff is friendly- don't get me wrong, I know there are issues, but there are issues everywhere. I think as family members we need to be realistic a…

PositiveMy 98-year-old mother has returned to her independent apartment after a fall, because of the care she received at Cabrini. The expertise, professionalism, experience, care, love, energy and smiles that each staff member brought to work transformed my mother from being helpless to being almost completely independent. Although my mother couldn't wait to go home, she told her peers, "Everyone was kind. They couldn't be nicer. And there were birds and a beautiful view."

PositiveMy family member has been at St. Cabrini Nursing Home for several years. We looked around and had a hard time finding a place that really met her needs. When she got into St. Cabrini Nursing Home we felt like our prayers had been answered. We've seen her improve since her admission to the facility. When we were visiting with her over this past weekend, she told us that she considers herself to be very lucky to be at St. Cabrini's Nursing Home. Her aids and nurses really know her as a person, and truly see…
