Apartments are nice but for the amount of money they charge a month, the food is terrible. The care staff for the most part is great but they are overwhelmed and residents will have to wait forever for help, with some sitting in soiled diapers for too long of a time. Maintenance is non existent for the most part. Things do not get fixed for months. Directors are fake and do not care what is going on as long as the rooms are filled and making money. But residents don’t get abused, so theres your dilemma.

Our mother fought moving to assisted living for a long time. We searched many places and Sunnybrook, in Brunswick, Maine proved the most comfortable and welcoming right from the initial visit. She has been there six months now and couldn't be happier. The nursing care is top notch. They manage her medications, and offer personal services specific to her needs such as physical therapy twice a week. The apartments and facility are lovely and well cared for by the staff. The shared spaces are welcoming and used often. The activities offered daily are designed for everyone and create a close community with the residents. The staff are all outstanding. They smile, say hello and are warm and very positive. It’s not hyperbole to say that it’s impossible to describe the high quality of the atmosphere and care at Sunnybrook. From our very first interaction with Statie, admissions director, to ask about options for my 98-year-old mother-in-law, we were impressed and deeply grateful. Sunnybrook was very nice, and the staff was wonderful. They were having lunch at the time we went through and met a couple of the residents. They seemed quite content with being there. It was a little more updated than some that we went to. The facility was kept very well. The bedrooms were adequate and in very good shape. They were well-maintained. We are choosing Sunnybrook for my parents-in-law because it was affordable for what we were looking for. It was clean and friendly, and the options were very good. The staff was just very knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough. We did not try the food there when we toured it because they were in a breakout status, so all the food was being delivered to the rooms.
