Review for The Abbewood Senior Living Community

When my father in law passed away before the end of the month. They still took out his rent. It took many calls to get it back weeks later. They check on the residents when they do not go down for meals. Which is how they found my father in law. The food is ok but cold and liked the fact that we could eat there with him and pay a small fee. Being seniors the walls are thin. My father in law was told his tv was too loud. They offered him headphones but he didn't want to have to wear them to watch TV.

Mother-in-law finds everything and more at Abbewood

My mother-in-law is very content at The Abbewood. She thinks the staff is very nice and they take care of her needs. The fact that there is a salon to get her hair done , makes her very happy , because it's been a long time since she's gotten her weekly do. In the evening she has said she gets a bit lonely and bored because most people go to their rooms , and there is rarely anyone to interact with. She has made new friends and does participate in some of the Daily/weekly activities. Honestly if I could afford…

Inconsistencies in quality of patient care and relationships with family members

Many of the staff were fine. Some were rude and inattentive however. Also, the quality and level of care in the mornings was lacking - nowhere near what we were told to expect. Not all of the nursing & aide staff seems to be adequately trained in handling patients in palliative / hospice care status. I should also add that a member of the senior leadership team was particularly uneducated regarding end of life care and actually disregarded (and went contrary to) the patient and family's wishes.

The staff at The Abbewood are very kind and friendly. They know their residents and look out for them. If anything comes up that concerns them about my mom, they call or text me. The food is very good. I've eaten there several times plus they have "family dinners" every so often which are very nice. It gives us caregivers a chance to meet other residents and their caregivers. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother moved into The AbbeWood. Everything's been going fine. The people are nice and polite. They check on my brother and are concerned if he doesn't show up to dinner, if he's not feeling well, or whatever. I don't think I have a negative opinion of them. The facility is very nicely kept up and updated. It looks nice. They've got breakfast and dinner for them as part of the plan. They have an exercise room. They have different activities that they can participate in.

I recently toured The Abbewood with my aunt and was impressed. I'm not sure the pictures online do it justice, but it is a lovely little community with wonderful and warm staff. We are still touring other properties but wanted to share my experience with others - it's definitely worth a visit if you are looking for senior living!
