The first place we visited was The Claiborne at Brickyard Crossing, and it's close to downtown Summerville. It's next to a shopping center and very close to a busy street. The facility was nice. People were nice. We didn't like the location, although it's close to downtown Summerville, but it's also like a block off of a heavily traveled road. Claiborne will never get more than two stars from me as long as the food, and the food service, remain as bad as they are. In a month of living here our meals that are supposed to be hot have BEEN hot exactly twice. They have stopped having real butter and instead serve that awful chemical junk. The wait staff constantly bickers at each other AND the residents. They write down orders and then often don't serve what was ordered. Meals are never served to a table together. I'm on The Claiborne at Brickyard Crossing's list. I've looked at others, but after I saw this one I liked this one much better. It's newer, it's only three years old, and it's a lot nicer. It has a lot to offer and a lot of activities. The people there are so nice. They have a heated swimming pool. They have water aerobics. There's just so many things going on there. My experience had been excellent. I enjoy living here. I am very happy with my apartment and I have made some very good friends. There are lots of activities that you can enjoy or not, your choice. The staff is great. I especially like water aerobics, line dancing, playing games, movies, and karaoke on the first and third Saturday evenings. Location is good as close to shopping and downtown Summerville on the Square.

Everyone is very positive when out and engaging with residents. They know all residents by their first names. The quality of care is hampered by the turnover of staff - a nation-wide challenge. Food service is inconsistent. The use of the on site management staff helps keep things moving during busy times, but the food service staff suffers from turnover and employee absence issues.
