The best in Independent Living located downtown Forest Grove next to Pacific University and the Senior Center. Spacious units. Facility was built in 1989. Family owned and has very caring staff and clean community. Very homey atmosphere with central fire place. Close to bus service, shopping and doctor's offices. A great place to retire with good security, medication monitoring and lots of companionship.

I moved into The Elms community 3 1/2 years ago and never want to be anywhere else! The staff not only do their job but go beyond to make us happy and content! There is always someone available to help - the wonderful office staff listen, the maintenance staff are helpful, even at a moment’s notice! The kitchen and serving staff are always willing to listen and joke back at us! They often go out of their way to take care of our special (and sometimes “picky”) requests. My sister and her spouse moved to Elms Retirement Living Center in Forest Grove. I think they chose it because my sister's daughters are all within about a 10-minute drive. I was a little disappointed in what they chose because there's no assisted living there. If they start needing care, they have to pay for somebody privately to come in since it's just a retirement center. Elms Retirement Living Center is a very nice place. The staff seemed very nice and accommodating. The biggest problem that I had was that, if you came in through what they were calling the main entrance, which was from the parking lot, you had to navigate through the dining room to get to the elevators. Being blind, I would have done it, but I didn't choose that place also because Forest Grove is a little bit further out, and I go to Vancouver on Sundays.
