The meals could use some improvement. Dinner does not always include a protein, and some of the vegetables have not been cooked properly. For example, the corn served one day was very hard. Overall, the food feels more like basic cafeteria-style meals than the quality I would expect.

My only concern so far is that they seem to have a high turnover in the admin staff. Hopefully that slows down. The staff is wonderful-they have worked so hard with him to make him comfortable and to make sure he leaves his room. The ones who I've noticed are [name removed] and [name removed], but many of the others engage and interact with him in positive ways. Staff- wonderful people taking great care and anxious to understand and meet needs, but some don't speak English well enough for mom to understand. Also information/requests sometimes not moving from one person to another well. Activities - can't rate them, mom doesn't participate. Food - hard to rate because she was taking meals in her room and they were mostly late and cold. Room - rather bleak and dark. The Reserve at Katy has 35 rooms available, but they are under new management. So they're going to be under renovation, like new carpet, new paint job, new decorations, and everything, and so that's going to go on this fall. However, it is one of the things that bothers us because, with my friend and her blindness, she can't see when things are in the way, and so we don't want her to have a problem because of something being left lying on the floor or something. My husband seems to be doing as well as possible. Most staff seem kind and gentle with him. Overall I am fine with his placement. The food is fine (I am often there at mealtimes) and he is clean, out in the living area.
