The entire staff has been friendly and helpful. Valley Orchards is a clean and well-maintained community. Breakfast menus are reliable, while lunch and dinner are somewhat less so, rescued by a healthy salad bar.

CriticalA nice place ... but becomes difficult and/or complicated if the elder declines
Well my brother has dementia which sadly is progressing, so we'll probably have to move him soon. We currently have an outside small company providing personal care - helping him shower and wash his clothes. Which of course, we pay for. It'd be nice if that was available there. Moving an elder is hard on them... it'll be hard for him. I'd be nice if they could provide those services so he didn't have to move....

Mom has lived here for 2 years and is very pleased with her choice. The staff is friendly and really cares. The grounds are kept tidy. Apts have patios or balcony with either a view of the garden or the large Redwoods. Favorite amenities include weekly housekeeping, raised bed gardening, library, on site beauty parlor, games, exercise class, bingo, free laundry and field trips (picnics, Bodega Bay, shopping trips, restaurant trips, smart train and casino trips). My apartment at Valley Orchard has been home for over two years and I couldn’t live in a happier place. The staff is extremely caring and there is generally no turnover. Even the high school and college age dining room servers stay employed here until they move out of Petaluma. They know you by name and remember your preferences . There are plenty of extra activities like bingo and bocce ball in addition to musical entertainment, exercise classes, bus trips for shopping, restaurant dining and picnics. But one of my…
