Abbotswood at Irving Park

The community as a whole is great, but I find its a problem at Verra Springs when Resident wants to eat in their room. Not that I think getting them to interact in the dining room setting is bad. I think it's their choice to eat where they are comfortable. They pay lots of money for their living situations/arrangements and delivery of meals should be an option not a paid necessity. These are our elderly who has worked their entire life and Abbottswood should not penny, nickel and dime them to death.

My father has moved into Abbotswood at Irving Park. They have common areas that the residents typically hang out in. He has a private room. We met the head nurse, and we really felt comfortable with what they had to offer. The interaction with the staff is very good. They're very responsive. Whenever we visit him, which is always without notice to them, we've never seen anything that was out of the ordinary or something that we would frown upon. Everything is good. They have rooms where they do activities…

All-around great experience!

I rate all seven categories a 5 for Abbotswood At Irving Park community. They have genuinely caring staff, quality activities. It is costly but worth it to me. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families

I feel comfortable knowing my parent is safe there. The facility is clean, well-appointed, and the other residents are very friendly. The food in the dining room is simply OK. Haven't had anything bad but it is generally unremarkable.

The activities are endless. Staff are extremely helpful. Food service is outstanding. Living in a cottage with fireplace, great kitchen, even alarm system, huge two car garage, big walking close closet and more.

The Elms is the highest level of memory care at Abbotswood. We were fairly happy with her level of care in assisted living, but we are so very disappointed in memory care. They are seemingly understaffed. Many of the staff working loiter around on their cell phones. We do not feel our mother’s needs are being met. We have conferred with other resident family members who are equally concerned. The facility itself is nice, and the food is good, but the care is minimal in a very needy population of residents.
