All case managers are relatively receptive to hearing requests for care of family members however there is no follow thru. Needs of residents are not regularly assessed causing concern for quality of care issues such as physical cleanliness and safety of residents and environment. The rooms are dusty, the bathrooms are filthy. It almost appears that the expectation is the family and or resident are responsible for cleaning the rooms. They accept Medicaid at Amber Court of Westbury. It's their rule that you have to bring your own chair for the shower, but if three people have to share the shower, how are they gonna get to put their own chair in? They weren't able to answer that question. I didn't like the toilet being right by the entrance door. If somebody has to watch my mom shower and someone has to go in the room, she'll be exposed. My wife and I are very pleased with Amber Court and how they treat my wife’s mother. It’s very clean, bed is always made, clothes are folded, and the staff is kind and friendly! My mother-in-law has made great friends and has adjusted well having been there now 5 weeks.

Amber Court of Westbury seemed very hands-on with the people, and they had full-time nursing staff there. The facility was lovely. The outdoor area was lovely, too. The rooms seemed very nice. They had a nice gym. They also had a beauty parlor that had people there every day. The staff was very knowledgeable. The dining set-up was typical of assisted living. It was spacious and bright. The residents were engaged in various activities.
