American House is a lovely facility. The memory care staff is a kind, caring, and well trained professional staff. My husband was there for a two week respite. I would highly recommend the memory care unit.

The entire experience is so wonderful. From the move in and beyond they treat you like family. Even though the transition is hard for the new resident and the caregiver they help alleviate all fear. They get to know the specific needs of the new resident and customize care to the individual. Can't say enough good things.

Food is very good as is kitchen staff. Care is good, depending somewhat on who you get. The staff answer phone calls, and answer the call button promptly. The building itself is beautiful inside & out. But individual room cleanliness could be a little better; you may have to point out something that needs attention, but staff is responsive when you do. No problems with billing and staff; AH does not appear to have the staff turnover some other places have.

overall and as for care, activities, food, I would also say 1! I may not have understood completely about what care actually is in memory care facilities especially in the state of Missouri but I just don't really think he got the basic care that I thought he should've gotten. Within a week of being there he fell I believe twice and ended up in the hospital. He really seemed to me that the workers really tried to skirt the responsibility and do as little as possible or just the very basic which from what I found ou…
