I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved to Ashby Ponds. After looking at everything and talking it over with my family and two daughters, this is what we came up with. It seemed to satisfy all of our needs. The financial requirements and everything were in order so that we were able to make it work for us. It's independent living, but they also offer assisted medical attention. It's a large enough community with 2,100 residents, and there's a diverse amount of activities, clubs, and personalities. I think that there are over a hund…

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have lived here for 6 years now and have been very happy. The staff and residents are very warm and friendly. There is much to do to satisfy all your interests. Lots of programs and exercise classes to improve your health and mind. Indoor pickleball court. Enjoy the fact that I am a phone call away from repairing any maintenance issue…no worries. Nine restaurants with a variety of menus. The fact that there are continuing care and rehab facilities on site is reassuring The standout is, of course, the people who l…

Think twice before you make a decision to come here. The food is carbohydrate heavy for people who are diabetic, it is difficult to get a human to answer the phone and the attitude of corporate executives in most all departments is non-professional at best.

I visited this facility

One place that we visited, which is very nice, is called Ashby Ponds in Ashburn. It's a whole city of buildings, it's huge, and all the buildings are connected. It was very nice, the people there were very friendly, and it was very clean. The living spaces were a little more accommodating and had a little more room. They even had a separate place for the washing machine and the dryer, which was commendable. We also tried the food, and it was very good. We toured their independent living, but they have ext…

I visited this facility

We toured Ashby Ponds and really didn't care for it. We found the rooms really small and the entrance fee is very high. Also very high is the monthly fee which goes up every year 5- 10%. We had nice lunch and the person giving the talk was very informative but said she could save us money. With the high monthly fee plus our own expenses we would be spending more money. I also do not find this an active community. I feel the residents have settled into old age which is not for me.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Ashby Ponds has a beautiful campus with an expensive deposit amount. Folks should move in when they can take advantage of the activities and eat at the various restaurants. Read the fine print on the contract. There is a large wait list for memory care at Maple Grove, I've was told 6 months to over a year. We had to move my mother from independent living to memory care after a stroke. She is responsible for the monthly service package, minus the non-occupancy credit, for up to 90 days from the date keys have b…
