I have had a very positive experience here. The staff are very nice, helpful, and caring, and the food is good. They also listen to residents’ suggestions and continue to update the menu to include meals that people have requested. The activity selection has not been as good recently because the activity director has been out on medical leave. My mother spent only about a month at Brookdale Fort Collins Assisted Living. She seemed to really like it, but she got sick as soon as she moved in. She rarely left her room. She really liked her room. She was at a point where she was spending most of her time sitting down, and then once she moved in, she didn't really leave the room much. CriticalTitle Questionable Security for a Memory Care Facility
I should never have moved my wife there. She was only at Brookdale for a very short time. In my opinion, Brookdale is not a secure memory care facility. My wife was able to exit on her own over ten times. The executive director claims they are compliant with the laws and fire regulations which may be true, but it does not address the security of residents. Father, with dementia, was placed in the memory care unit. Caring of staff was hit or miss. The staff was overworked and spread thin. The Director said they would assist with finding a nursing facility if dad's needs required more intensive care. This was a lie; neither the Director nor the Head Nurse helped when that time came. I had to rely on a Social Worker at the local hospital in finding a place for him. Since they refused to allow residents to have electronic aids, he was isolated by lack of hearing aid…
