Individualized car plan was just what we needed

Brookdale created an individualized care plan for dad based on what he needed and what he didn't. All the staff are very caring for the residents and have lots of patience. Daily activities are well organized and based on a curriculum. Apartment is adequate size and configured safely for a dementia patient.

Overall would recommend

The staff were great and caring to Ida on her final days as well as when she was active before her stroke. The room was a good size plenty of room to get around with walker.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Ormond Beach West was very nice and very different than any place I've seen where the people can walk wherever they want to go but yet they can't get out. It's like a hotel almost, but there are no upstairs and downstairs. They have a little area outside where they can go for activities and things like that. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Rooms are an adequate size, some with nice landscaped views. Majority of staff treat residents well. Vivian, the Activity Director, does an excellent job providing interesting activities that keep the residents involved. She brings in musicians and others for live entertainment. Every resident gets a well-attended birthday party. Residents do not have time to get bored. Climate control is excellent.

Very friendly atmosphere and although i didn’t ultimately chose Brookdale, I would recommend to anyone who is considering for a community for their loved one to make sure and put Brookdale Ormond West on their list of communities to visit.

It was great to visit at random times of day and see all of the staff members actively engaging the residents in one way or another. They seem to have a broad range of activities for residents at all cognitive levels. I think I this is key in a memory care setting.
