Overall Brookdale is excellent. I have had more problems since my mom was moved from independent to assisted care. The assisted care seems to not communicate as well as when she was in independent and [name removed] was getting extra care for her. [name removed] at Brookdale at home is excellent. She loves the meals and the extra activities. Like I said they do not get back to you in assisted living if you have questions.

The courtyard could really make a difference if they put something other than gravel so people could walk around, put picnic benches, shade, flowers. Why have a courtyard that can’t be used? It could really make a difference to these people to have an outside gathering place to socialize and would take little effort. It really is pretty dumpy. Do not move your loved one into the Assisted living side, the ED does not care about regulations and is not being open to staff about them. Ed having staff working in unsafe conditions for them as well as the resident.

The one-bedroom apartment is adequate. Remember to downsize your belongings and be prepared to remove some items from your personal inventory. The staff is well motivated and strives for excellence. The kitchen staff identified my special dietary requirements before I had my first meal. The community has a small therapy pool. It was built around 1990, but the amenities are up to date. It requires a lot of walking to get around, so I use my walker. There are lots of side activities available. Like any social gro…

I like the place a lot but they have been having some recent issues. There are no rides to appointments currently because they wrecked the van. Events have been cancelled etc. I also know my MIL is still hesitant to get involved so I am hopeful. I would still recommend it to others. Staff is great. Executive director knows everyone by name and they all work hard to make people feel welcome. I feel safe with her there
