I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law has dementia and has been a resident for at least 2-3 years, since her stay we can never get anyone to answer the phone so we can check on her. We live about five hours away from the center so we can't visit as often as we would like to.

My mom was at Brushy Creek due to weakness and immobility related to lung and kidney disease. I would never recommend this facility. They are severely understaffed. Mom waited for 2 hours to be assisted to the bathroom. Family ended up driving down at 9pm to assist her. Several staff are decent and trying to do a good job under the working convictions. Others are rude and hateful and would not assist with simple requests mom made. The food was good the first couple of days and then quickly went downhill. Breakfasts…

My husband was there after going to the ER where they discovered Left hip arthritis, bone on bone, and incontinence due to immobility. The food was substandard. They never got my husband up for rehabilitation exercises but charged the insurance companies. There was no hospital bed ordered for my husband upon discharge which made his care harder for me changing sheets and bathing in bed at home. An understaffed facility was a good way to describe this facility.

My wife broke her hip and had to be in Brushy Creek Post Acute for rehab. This was a place that they wanted you to check in at the office and get a picture I.D. every time and so forth. Then you go to the cottage that the person was in, ring the doorbell, stand there, and wait for someone to come and let you in. It's the same thing when you get out. You had to stand around and wait till they quit doing their duties and let you out the door. The people there were all nice. One of the ladies who took care of my …

If you are considering Brushy Creek for a loved one, turn and run the other way. My arrived one day following surgery. He did not receive any medication until the next day. He only got a shower 2 days a week. A discharge planning meeting was planned for the next week. ONE DAY after being notified of the meeting I received a phone call from the Social Worker ( on Thursday) saying your husband will be discharged on Sunday. He could not walk. Had no wheelchair, no equipment. Home health had been arranged without my in…
