Fine for Assisted Living, Horrible if you need more help

Carmel Village is an acceptable place for seniors who are still fairly independent and only need minimal assistance, meals, and basic housekeeping. However, once a resident requires a higher level of care, our experience was extremely disappointing. My mom lived at Carmel Village for two years. Nice facility

Facility is very nice. Sometimes need to remind them to do [name removed ]'s laundry. I wish they would trust me with the door code for memory care.

Less worry for Mom

Staff is friendly and efficient. Daily activities are the same and do not vary. Could use some imagination in finding new things to keep people interested. Facility is clean and taken care of. Visitor parking is limited and street parking is limited due to surrounding apartments. Restaurant service is attentive and responds to individual requests.

Review for Carmel Village

It's difficult to say whether Carmel is better then other places. They seemed to be attentive to my mother's needs. I think a larger common area would be nice, but do to the condition of most residents in this part of the facility, unnecessary. The care givers were a pleasure, and communicated effectively.

The location was great to my dad's house, but I would not recommend Carmel's memory care facility.

I met with an administrator at Carmel Village. Within a few minutes, we realized that assisted living was not what I was looking for my mother. I did not tour the facility. She was, however, helpful in recommending an independent living apartment complex just a few blocks away. Palm Island Apartments was a good choice.
