Charter Senior Living of Dedham

Seems like a great place, very clean, recently got a great paint job. The TV/movie rooms don’t seem to have enough seats for the 83 folks in the facility. The one bedroom units have a very small living/kitchen area. I am looking for a not for profit facility that this one is not.

My cousin's room was absolutely disgusting. She has dementia she has issues with cleanliness. Her room was covered in feces: the blinds, wall, book covers, pillows and her fingernails. I had to ask to have someone clean the room because no one was aware of the situation. Clearly, no one had looked in on her. After asking, someone did eventually come in to clean but I had to continuously point out where it was to scrub. It was obvious, just the person did not have any interest in cleaning. Would recommend

My dad has adjusted better than I expected (esp. since he went from rehab hospital directly to Charter without returning to his home). He has friends he dines with, plays cards and bingo, enjoys when musicians come to perform. He is in a studio which he was unhappy about at first; we were trying to stretch his funds out as long as possible. He also arrived there using a wheelchair so that made sense. He now has a walker, and with that's his care plan is less expensive, and is happy with/used to the studio. Overall…

Overall would recommend

Dad's getting used to new home. Participating in activities. Eating at least 2 out of 3 meals (probably still more than he ate when he lived alone). Staff is attentive though the response time when I contact is slow; better to address in person. Clean, care is good; dad just needs to have some patience.

Stopped in for a tour and was pleased. The community was clean and well cared for, and the staff was genuinely kind and helpful. Everyone took the time to answer our questions, and it all felt very relaxed and welcoming.

I had a great time touring the community. The property manager made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. They said they just had completed a renovation and the property looks amazing.
